TEDxOrlandoSalon's Last Call

Please join organizer Barbara Shell for TEDxOrlandoSalon's 60th event on Wednesday, March 16. This will also be our last call; it's time for TEDxOrlando's hard-working volunteer founders to focus on other opportunities and priorities.

If there is interest, Barbara has offered to continue the Salon tradition with a similar group under a different name, Valencia TED Community. If you'd like to participate, please email Barbara at bshell (a) valenciacollege (dot) edu.
  • TEDxOrlandSalon's "last call" will be Wednesday, March 16 from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm at Valencia College West Campus, Special Events Center, Building 8, 1800 South Kirkman Road, Orlando, FL 32811.

  • Please register below; registration is strongly encouraged and will help us provide you with a better event experience.

  • TEDxOrlandoSalon is free and open to the public.

What talks will be on the program?

In March, TEDxOrlandoSalon attendees will vote to view several talks from the following curated selection:
Kristen Marhaver: How we're growing baby corals to rebuild reefs
Robert Waldinger: What makes a good life?
Jessica Shortall: The US needs paid family leave
Ann Morgan: My year reading a book from every country
Harry Cliff: Have we reached the end of physics?

What are the monthly meetings like?

TEDxOrlandoSalon events are held at Valencia College locations.

A typical meeting draws approximately 40 smart, interesting, engaged people. Some will be regulars and some will be newcomers.

Several TEDTalk videos are shown, each followed by a discussion break. The event program is determined by vote, and discussions are open-ended.

Please bring food and drink, if you wish to.

Please note that Salon events do not feature live speakers; the focus is on participation in conversation and discussion.

TEDxOrlando Code of Conduct

TEDxOrlando and TEDxOrlandoSalon are about the exchange of meaningful ideas and deep discussion, not selling. Opportunities do sometimes result from contacts made at our meetings and we encourage that. However, we ask that you refrain from using TEDxOrlando or TEDxOrlandoSalon primarily as a platform for promoting yourself, your personal political or religious views, your business, or your organization.
